Choose how you are notified. Without a setting of your own, the default for all users applies.
In Orbit MissionControl, open Settings → Notifications → For Me. Your personal notification table includes these notification types, with an E-mail or Browser control where that channel is supported:
Select the E-mail or Browser icon beside a notification to change how you receive it. The value shown for each channel is the effective setting. Some notification types do not support every channel.
Standard means your personal settings follow the default for all users. When you change a channel for a notification, your choice applies to that notification type. Select Reset on its row to remove your personal choice and follow the default again.
If you can edit the defaults, open Settings → Notifications → For All Users to see the Operator Users, Carrier Users and Shipper Users tables. A personal choice takes precedence over those defaults for your account. Without a personal choice, a change to the default changes the effective value you see.
Some notification types in these tables have an information icon after their name. Hover over or focus it to read when Orbit sends the notification. For a notification about changes, it also tells you that changes made less than three minutes apart arrive as one email.
A test environment, such as staging, sends no emails until you choose otherwise. This keeps carriers, shippers and contacts from receiving emails about test data. The setting covers every email Orbit sends from that environment, including invitations and password emails. One exception: a code to reset a password, requested on the sign-in page, always goes to the account's own address. A redirected invitation still names the original address, so do not use its link to set a password for an account that is not yours. Push and browser notifications are not affected.
In Orbit MissionControl, open Settings → Notifications → Email Delivery and choose a Delivery Mode:
| Mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| Off | No emails are sent, not even invites or password emails. Outside staging, @orbit.do addresses still receive them. Codes to reset a password still go to the account's own address. |
| Redirect | All emails go to the Redirect Address instead of their recipients. Subject and content stay unchanged. An email meant for several recipients may arrive more than once. Codes to reset a password still go to the account's own address. |
| Real Recipients | Emails go to users, carriers, shippers and contacts, as in production. |
Select Save. Redirect and Real Recipients take effect only after you confirm the dialog that follows. While Real Recipients is active, a warning at the top of the page reminds you that every email reaches its recipients.
Changing the mode requires permission to edit the company profile; without it, the page is read-only. Production has no such setting: there, every email reaches its recipients.
If your organisation enables email for comments from a carrier or shipper, you can switch that email off for yourself. Other operator users continue to follow the organisation default unless they make their own choice.
No. Your personal choice applies to your account. The defaults for all users are managed separately by administrators.
It means you are using the default for all users. Select Reset after making a personal choice to return that notification type to the default.
You can change each available channel. The personal choice is attached to the notification type, so resetting the row returns its available channels to the defaults.
A test environment sends no emails until someone with permission to edit the company profile chooses Redirect or Real Recipients under Settings → Notifications → Email Delivery. See Emails in a test environment.
